Elaine Lee Richey was a winner of the 1958 Walter W. Naumburg Foundation's competition. She was a long-time student of Galamian, later becoming his teaching assistant at Curtis. She was a renowned performer and teacher of the violin. Richey was also on the faculty of the North Carolina School of the Arts and concertmaster of the Winston-Salem Symphony. She gave herself completely to her art and unselfishly to her students. It was her love and her life's work.
